Mangchi has a wide adaptability to soil. Compared with clay, mangosteen prefers sandy soil with rich organic matter and pH value of 5-6.5.
Good drainage conditions are required. Mangchi persimmon needs more water when growing rapidly. The annual rainfall in tropical areas is 1300-2500mm, which can meet its vigorous growth; The uniformity of annual rainfall distribution will also affect the growth rate of mangosteen. Generally, the rainfall with uniform distribution is more conducive to the rapid growth of mangosteen.
Mangchi is a typical tropical rainforest fruit tree. It can grow vigorously under the environment of 25-35 ℃ and 80% relative humidity, and the temperature range of 20-25 ℃ can also meet the basic requirements for the growth of mangosteen. However, when the temperature drops below 20 ℃, the growth of mangosteen will be significantly inhibited; When the temperature is lower than 5 ℃ or higher than 40 ℃ for a long time, it will cause the death of mangosteen plants.
The early growth of Mangchi persimmon needs low light environment, and the shade degree of 40% - 75% is most suitable for the growth of mangosteen. Under direct light, the leaves of mangosteen, especially the newly sprouted leaves, are easily burned by strong light.
Mangji persimmon has a life span of 70 years, but its growth is slow. It takes seven or eight years from cultivation to fruiting. The fruit maturity is from October to December, and the yield is higher from November to December.
