Hi, I’m GRL.I want to offer 44 of my early supporters access to myself and the world I am building with “GRL” as a character and Krash World, the world she lives in.
Episode 1:
I am an artist and visionary. At my core I have been writing, producing and performing music since I was 14 years old. I come from a very musical family of music-lovers, listeners and aficionados who always encouraged my interest in playing instruments. My mom was always playing classic songs from every genre from some of the best artists to ever live. Earth, Wind & Fire. Al Green. John Lennon. Phil Collins. Her ear is unmatched to this day. My big brother, a talented performer himself, introduced me to N.E.R.D, early Kanye West, everything on MTV in the early 2000s and the early beginnings of street fashion like Ice Cream, BAPE, Jacob & Co watches… he was always so fly. These are my inspirations. These are my foundations. This is a big part of who I am and the art that I make. I always aspired to create full, cohesive experiences with my music, to build worlds and strong brands like Kanye & Pharrell.
I went off to engineering school on a full-ride scholarship right after graduating hihj school. I could immediately tell that this was not meant for me.
Although, I had fun and met some brilliant people , in between classes and all throughout the night, I would stay awake in my dorm room and make beats on my laptop.
Every day. I was obsessed. I would skip eating. Skip sleeping. Just to make sure that all of my work was done and I could work on my music. Eventually, it got to the point where I would skip major events like homecoming to stay in my dorm and make beats. I became addicted to the process. I ventured out and even started recording shaky vocal ideas from my phone and started learning how to mix. These early demos were awful but I was so excited at the thought of making my own songs. This was for me.
After months of overworking and not properly taking care of myself I got sick. Very, very sick. By the time spring break rolled around in fact, I started to lose control of the right side of my mouth and my right hand was tingling. Before I knew it, I was paralyzed. During my period of recovery I was forced to move back home and began recording and releasing real songs as an artist. This is when GRL was born. Nearly 4 years later I am fully mobile, in art school and still making music. Since then I’ve gotten the opportunity to write for artists like Kehlani, Kaash Paige, Mulatto and other rap and r&b superstars. I don’t plan on stopping there though, and fully plan on touching every single genre of music with my songwriting and production.
When I was a sophomore in high school (2015) I learned about Bitcoin and experimented with it early on, creating my first wallet and buying some coin. (I lost it, of course) but it was still a great introduction into the blockchain and the world of crypto. And then in October 2021, my friend Leo Pastel posted about his concert with the “Rocking Uniquehorns” in the metaverse… Metaverse? I saw screenshots from his show in Decentraland and saw there were tons of little people in there watching him perform and was immediately intrigued.
Curious, I asked him what the metaverse was and then I invited him to do a podcast episode with me and the Web2 streetwear and art collective I founded with my best friend called Krash World and we interviewed Pastel on Web3. From then on I was completely obsessed with Web3 and the possibility of building out a world in my own image, a character and a real community of likeminded people. This was the perfect vehicle for my vision to be realized.
That was almost 8 months ago. Since then, I’ve made thousands of new friends. Built a collective empowering BIPOC LGBTQIA leaders and creators in Web3 called Prism. Became a founding member of a music collective called Outsiders. Joined some amazing PFP communities like Smilesss & Loser Club. Minted NFTs. Minted my first Music NFT. Sold hundreds of Music NFTs. Made History. Hosted a historical activation called Prism World at NFT NYC this year. Joined MV3’s metaverse band as Tiny in the Morphotones. Performed IRL for different projects. Hosted and spoken in hundreds of spaces. And did I say I’ve made some amazing friends?
About a month ago, I released the first single from my upcoming EP. The project tells a love story from beginning to end and may tie into the larger storyline behind GRL. For this release I wanted to experiment with allowing my supporters to be involved, so I decided to put out an art challenge for the cover! This way I could get my supporters involved and also have some beautiful covers that I can swap out on DSPs week after week creating a unique experience for my consumers. I gave them a blank cover to start with (below) and they were tasked to create something based off of the sneak peak of the song I gave them and a bit of backstory.

Where do I plan on taking this brand? Everywhere. Music, toys, animated shows, 3d worlds, comics, games, clothing, digital collectibles, wearables and more. This is the beginning of a very long journey of a vision I will be building for the next ten years.
