Details about insurance attached to physical items redeemed through the RealNifty marketplace.
RealNifty has three different types of delivery that creators can choose from:
Self-Shipment
Label Delivery
Fully Handled Delivery
You can learn about the different types of delivery in this article as well as where to find out what type of delivery your physical item has attached to it.
As a ‘redeemer’ (someone that has purchased an NFT and wants to have the physical item attached delivered to them) it is important to understand that the above delivery methods can affect whether or not the delivery of your physical item will have insurance attached and the level of insurance.
Please review the guide below before purchasing any NFTs to make sure you are happy with the method of delivery and insurance attached.
If you are having your physical item delivered via label delivery, your item will be covered with our third-party fine art and collectibles insurance. This includes the following:
The total value of the object is provided and coverered to match the invoiced value of the goods.
The value should include frames, mounts, pedestals.
Insurance does not include coverage for duties and taxes paid to customs.
“All risks” covers restoration for conditions acquired in transit, not just claims for total loss, subject to the applicable policy’s terms and conditions.
Conditions include but are not limited to; scratches, indentations, punctures, tears, pigment loss, water stains, cracks, shattered materials and will be compared to condition documentation performed at collection.
Please note - as the redeemer, you don’t need to worry about setting up any of the above for delivery. This is automatically completed by our systems and the creator.
**For more in-depth details, you can view our third-party insurance document HERE.
Insurance details for fully handled delivery are the same as for Label Delivery above. Additional insurance can be discussed for higher-end pieces by contacting RealNifty via info@realnifty.xyz.
If the physical item you are redeeming is listed as Self-Shipment, this means that the creator themselves will be personally shipping the physical item to you. This is important to make a note of before purchase of any NFTs with physical items attached, as it is up to the creator whether or not they send the item with insurance cover and what level of cover that insurance will be using. For self-shipment items, RealNifty is not involved in the delivery process or holds any responsibility for damage or non-delivery and it is up to the redeemer to find out the level of insurance, if any, that is attached to delivery.
Of course, RealNifty always recommends to our creators to include insurance with the delivery of all physical items and to work with the redeemers through our messaging system to secure piece of mind of delivery. The redeemer can message the creator through our RealNifty messaging system to confirm and choose a level of insurance, as well as delivery company, tracking, etc.
