Just the other day WP2 came out - some people learned something new from it, others were disappointed. Is it that bad and does the Haus ecosystem have a future?
I have been a project holder since February 13th. I currently own 3 modules, 1 Muri and 1 Night City land. It's not much, but it's an indicator that I'm as interested as I can be in the project's development and growth. I sincerely love this project, its idea, team and everything associated with it. So please do not think in any negative way about what I am going to state below.
My main specialization and interest apart from cryptocurrency/nft is brand management. So I will consider the project from professional point of view, with my own thoughts as a member of NFT/Crypto sphere.
English is not my primary language, so don't be annoyed by my mistakes/unusual spelling and so on.
This article does not claim to be the ultimate truth. It is only my opinion and view of my beloved project. I would be grateful if you would consider it that way.
In this article, we will briefly talk about the history of the project, its strengths, its weaknesses - as well as possible solutions to the problems. The article is more for those who are already connected with Haus ecosystem, but for those who see it for the first time it will be useful to get acquainted with.
So, let's start with what is the foundation for building a successful brand in any field. In a nutshell, there are three main factors:
recognition
mission + unique selling proposition
the presence of a loyal audience.
Let's look at these factors in the context of the “Haus”.
Due to the skillful actions of the team, the project has really managed to achieve a certain recognition. This happened due to the unique and simple corporate style and message, as well as the interesting and mysterious figure of the founder (Assa) and his biography.
From the beginning, project didn't aim to make money from mint, which is reflected, for example, in the incredibly low price of mint when, at the time, other creators/projects was mostly trying to cut the last cream off the market. The message that the project was for the community, with full transparency, big plans, and working for the long term - won everyone over, and it was a great move. The first reward for the holders was not long in coming - and very soon after the mint there was an airdrop of HausPets, which were not just unnecessary NFT, but pets with their own full utility in the form of mini-games and just a fun. Literally with every action team tried to bring maximum utility for the holders.
In addition, the first project after “Haus” mint, which everyone was waiting for, came out as smoothly and successfully as possible. It's certainly about “Muri”.
Mint price was only 0.15 ETH - and at the peak the floor was almost 2 ETH. Art was very cool. Additionally it was Azuki's success and a lot of people were looking for a “second Azuki”. Besides the art, there was a strong road map, with full anime, manga, music, thematic clothing and its own game with lands and other mechanics.
At the time, the main idea of the Haus was to release similar projects on a regular basis. However, the success of “Muri” overshadowed Haus and many thought the modules were just WL in “Muri”. They didn't see their value, or rather their value was not clearly explained by the team. As it turned out later - the team itself was in the process of changing the vision of “Haus” and was not able to clearly define what the project is. In this regard, “Muri” were renewing their heights and made new audiences fall in love with them - meanwhile “Haus” had receded to the background, both in the eyes of the audience and in the eyes of the team. In fact, I'll note that after the “Muri” mint and the HausPets airdrop almost nothing has been done for Haus, exactly as much as for its holders. But we'll come back to that later.
So, such a successful project and expansion of the audience has had almost no effect on increasing the visibility of “Haus” itself. I'm talking about attracting real holders, not flippers, who of course rushed to buy “Haus” hoping to flip it before the next similar project, because they continued to think that “Haus” is just a pass for WL and not more.
To rectify this situation and to clarify the intersection of projects and their future, there was a rebranding and a change in the original vector of “Haus”, which the team worked hard on. A whole ecosystem of projects was introduced, headed by the “Fabrik” group. Haus was now just one of the projects of an ecosystem that had plans much bigger and more ambitious than creating nft-passes. Zoom away - and we realize that now “Fabrik” is a group of 30+ specialists working on various projects within their own ecosystem. At that point WP1 came out and new projects were announced there - “NIWA”/”Cicadas”, along with information about the old ones, big names within the collaborations and another solidification of the brand identity and project message.
At that point, the recognition and style of the project shifted and took it to the next level. Holders understood that they were owning not just another NFT, but a piece of the whole brand, with a large team of top specialists, which had proven its competence (due to the success of Haus/Muri); with a powerful leader (in the face of Assa, who has always done everything he promised, always been transparent in all respects, always been on the wave with the community and caused respect, as well as formed the image of a real creator in the eyes of his community), and also with great prospects (a number of future projects, collaborations with big names, uniqueness and scale in the NFT world).
It was with this that the image of the Fabrik/Haus was associated, its distinctive features, its corporate style and message - all of this formed the recognizability of the Haus, the scale of which was about to expand to a huge number of followers.
As we said above, Fabrik has a great mission, analogues of which on the scale was not and is not on the market. I will give you an example of how exactly the mission and goals of the project should be formed.
The mission is - to make a significant contribution to the growth of web3 and take a clear niche next to the major web3 projects.
To make this mission come true the team set the following goals:
Building a strong and unique brand
Creating community, strong and loyal audience
Formation of the ways of funding the project
Formation of a team of professional and competent specialists
To achieve each of the goals certain tasks were set:
Formation of a strong and unique brand through a minimalistic and technological corporate identity, based on the personality of the founder, as well as through the creation of projects and products that will facilitate understanding of the web3 and the interaction with it for others
Formation of a strong and loyal community by creating the real value of ownership of the NFT project for the holders, an unconditional and transparent communication with the community, keeping all the promises and deadlines, as well as motivating the holders to support the project and spreading its vision outside the project server.
Formation of ways to fund the project by creating paid collections, as well as cooperation with major companies, projects and fundraisers in order to increase the market value and interest of large investors and attract investment from them.
Formation of a team of professional and competent specialists by searching for strong criators among the community, friends, web3 sphere and creating ideal working conditions for them, which will later become a factor of motivation to work for the benefit of the project and maximally give back to it. This is achieved through the same conditions that are used to create a strong community.
Doing all of these things and achieving all of these goals would have made the project an imminent success by now. Unfortunately, many points have not been met.
Building a strong brand failed due to the fact that even the project has a unique corporate identity - but it was in conflict with the transparency and clarity - fundamentals of large and serious projects. I'm talking about "riddles, ciphers, little references" and everything else that the team likes to use as part of their communication with external audiences. Sure, that too has its charm and its unique idea - but it goes against the pattern of a big project, which gives confidence to its investors that they are exactly where they need to be with every new tweet, message, announcement and news. If "riddles and ciphers" are a promotional and attention-grabbing tool - then transparency should be provided by other actions, which we'll talk about below. Also, since the release of Muri - “Fabrik” has not created or released a single project - but only invented and promised new ones. All this does not show the project as a strong brand or aiming to become one. A strong brand has to have a confident stance, a confident plan, and confident actions within that plan.
The formation of a large, strong and loyal community succeeded, but only partially. The project does not have a new audience, it keeps 99% of the holders, who came to the project on the wave of success “Muri” and now, every day sell their modules/Muries at a loss. It failed again, because of non-compliance with the conditions listed above. All this could not be done because of the failure to meet the conditions listed above.
There is no transparency in the actions of the team. We were promised the names/doxx of the team - we only get a ghostly number of employees / their ghostly biography and places of work - all this was not proved in any way. No one knows anything about the team except for my beloved @ilya2x. After complaints from the community the team made a website with updates on each project - which made everyone happy. However, 99% of them don't have any updates up to now. In such a situation it's hard to talk about transparency
No deadlines and promises have been fulfilled. The merch for Haus, the samples of which we all saw before the release of Muri, has never been released and there is no information about it even now. Practically all the points from Muri's roadmap such as Anime, Manga, Clothing Collection, Game - none of these have been fulfilled. We only got 1 full and 1 test issue of Manga in all that time. Manga reveals the collection's lore and in my opinion, that's what should be released as a priority. I won't even talk about the fact that we still haven't seen any progress in terms of the MFFVD collection ( proof of the receiving of the painting, the announcement of the branding and burning or at least approximate dates and so on). The release date for the second part of WP has also been postponed. The release date for one of the upcoming projects, NIWA, has also been postponed. New information in WP2 about planned projects (Cicadas/Toleranz/Memories) - was also promised but never released. Holders have not seen the fulfillment of 99% of the promises made by the team since the release of Muri. I'm not saying that the game/anime/merch and everything else should have been done in those few months. But work should have been done with the audience in terms of notifying them of progress on certain projects and providing clear information on new ones.
Because of this, also a certain part of the holders lose the motivation to hold the project and be confident in it and the team. They have nothing to spread about the project in social networks - because there are no new achievements and accomplishments. It makes no sense for them to support the project outside of it, because they themselves have doubts about it because of the actions of the team.
The formation of ways to fund the project succeeded, as we learned from WP2. After all, investments were brought in. However, it was presented as if without them, the project would be almost frozen, because the project funds fell in value along with the collapse of the cryptocurrency market. Which is generally unacceptable for the stated level of the project. It is also unacceptable in the eyes of potential investors, which also affects the volume of sales of the project collections, and accordingly its financing through royalties.
The formation of a team of professional and competent professionals as well has succeeded, according to the team itself. And again, we don't know if Haus has a lot of permanent employees and if they are really competent enough (you can't judge this objectively based on the success of 1 project, which was launched in a good market and on the wave of success and demand for "anime art" after Azuki's success) - but we may suppose that the project has created a strong team.
So, as for the mission, goals and fundamental tasks, the fulfillment of which almost completely depends on the success of the project - more than 50% has not been fulfilled.
This is the point at which the project has reached a good level. We have a decent and strong community. A great atmosphere and environment inside. A lot of talented people who share the vision of the project and its team. Just read the chat room - all the FUD is immediately nipped in the bud by arguments and reasonable considerations. There is practically no rude communication, abuse or anything like that - everyone supports each other and loves each other. And what is more important - everyone loves the project and is ready to support it always and in everything. And I am one of them!
Yes, of course there are flippers (they are everywhere), but they do not prevent the community to develop and stick together, supporting the project. As evidenced by the number of listings/holders on all collections of the project, as well as the internal atmosphere. However, at the same time, expansion of the audience was not achieved, due to many reasons, which we have already mentioned above. The project for the most part still has the same people who have been with it either from the beginning, or since the success of Muri.
First of all the reasons for the problems of the project, which have already been listed and mentioned above - in my opinion is the lack of strict management and the initial lack of a final vision for the project. Due to the fact that the team has already changed the final vision of the project and its products several times - it could not do the following things:
Formulate a specific positioning of the project.
About what it is, what its purpose is, what it is unique, why it is important to the community, and what value it can bring to investors. Instead, in front of people's eyes, the shape of the project changes regularly
one day it's passes for access to a mint of different collections on different topics and in collaborations with different creators
then it is a full-fledged ecosystem where each project has its own team working on; major partnerships and project utilities are formed; different communities are created and new areas are covered under the Fabrik umbrella
and after that it is a project that creates serious technological products such as NFT marketplace, its own hot and cold wallets, as well as its lunchpad system, offering a full package of services to create and promote other projects
To set up the release of products and clear implementation of the previously announced plan.
Constant transfers, jumping from project to project, working on 8+ projects almost simultaneously - all this leads to a loss of loyalty of their investors and complete confusion in the eyes of potential investors, who move to more simple and straightforward projects instead of diving into the Haus ecosystem.
These are the main problems of the project, which must be solved first. And here's what to stick to in my opinion to fix it:
We should not jump from project to project and spend time figuring out and developing new ones, while the old ones remain unfinished. We need to do at least 1-2 solid points from the roadmap of projects promised earlier before we move on to the next one.
For example:
For Haus to release the long-promised Haus sneakers in collaboration with a customizer. Or clearly work out and release at least one piece of clothing from the collection that could be bought with the tokens everyone has accumulated
For Muri to finally release rewamp art, release a new manga issue (if anime production is halted due to a studio contract freeze), or similarly, release at least 1 piece of clothing from the upcoming collection that could be bought with tokens (WP2 already mentioned it as a zip-pullover).
For NIWA to finalize a mint date and price that would be acceptable to both the audience in the current market, the team, and the funding plan for the project.
For HausPets to definitively outline the quarter of the game's release
These are just examples. However, in my opinion, the implementation of at least a few points from the above - have a positive impact on the loyalty to the project, the mood of the community, the emergence of new infopodov and confidence in the development (rather than stagnation) of the project in the eyes of investors and potential investors.
Release a separate article/post/AMA - where the audience will be introduced to the project team in detail, where everyone (or 1/3 of the employees) will tell about themselves on their own behalf (about their path in web3, experience, work and the reason for working in Fabrik). We can not refuse the style of the project in terms of teasers, riddles and keys to them - but back it up with regular updates to the site with the progress of the project + by monthly articles about the work done, revealing updates to the milestones on the site. It is not necessary to tell there only about the successes, it is necessary to point out what could not be achieved, where development stopped and why, as well as how the team wants to fix it and whether it needs help from the community.
Believe me this is very important. This will not only make the owners feel like they are taking part in developing the project, but also increase their loyalty and belief in the project.
To write a separate structured document or a press release that will describe clearly and concretely: what is Fabrik, why does it need web3, why he should take a place among the top projects, how exactly the team plans to achieve this, what the project aims in the short + medium + long term. This document will be spread by holders, on the basis of it will be again written new threads about the project, people from the outside will understand what Fabrik is and why they should invest in it.
Also very useful to create a full-fledged Fabrik website, where we will see each of the projects as a separate tab on the site with a full description of the project, its roadmap and so on. This will allow to combine all the projects and present them as a complete ecosystem on one resource. As far as I know the work on such a site is already in progress.
It is important to do this at the stage of the market where we are now and will continue to be. People are looking for confident projects with good potential, in which they will be sure that their money will not melt away as in some degen-mint. And now, in my opinion, is the best time to show how fundamental and strong Fabrik is in comparison with others.
It is not necessary to stop at one idea and name - you need to give full information about the project, which will help the audience to form its understanding.
For example, the wallet app from Fabrik was presented. It was given its idea and a brief description of its functions. For a cold wallet was given a couple of lines. However, the most important question that arises about any wallet is the security it provides. Why when presenting such an important product - this most important aspect was not explained to the audience? In today's reality, any wallets, even the largest companies with hundreds of developers and large investments behind them - even they are subject to hacks/attacks and other security related things. How can the audience be sure that the Fabrik wallet makes sense and the team, which until now could not clearly form its vision and simply release merch/anime/new collection - suddenly will be able to pull such a serious and complex development?
Because of this, people let such announcements pass their ears and we see comments that there was nothing new in WP2. And the reason is simple - the products were not well presented. Whether it was because there wasn't enough time to clearly describe them or it's because such aspects just hadn't even been thought of yet while the product was already being presented - this is what the audience is wondering and what gives rise to more and more doubts. This is something we need to avoid.
Having analyzed the project as cursorily as I did, the following conclusion can be made. The project has enough problems, above all, they are associated with the fact that the team for a long time could not clearly understand how they want to see Fabrik and the entire ecosystem of Haus. Accordingly, the holders (and even more so the audience outside the project) can not understand it - which means that they are getting rid of NFT by the holders even at a loss, as well as the refusal to invest in the project from new potential investors. After all, these investors give preference in favor of more understandable to them projects on the market. There is no clear management and marketing/development plan, in terms of building new products and improving the existing ones. Just no transparency in the actions of the team, as well as solid actions to enhance current audience and to expand the audience of the project at all.
Despite this, the project has a unique idea, which inspires with its scale. The team is clearly a very creative and capable professionals who are clearly passionate about the idea and want to implement it by all means. They didn't take the easy way of just riveting new collections and handing out WLs to their holders - they want each project to be unique, valuable and bring something new to our sphere. They want to see it develop and be directly involved. Assa is a very smart and creative person, which I am sure will be very successful with a little more experience in terms of business. It is evident that the flight of creativity and the team's ideology overshadows structuralism, management and all the other concepts and aspects, which are a little far from pure creativity and have more to do with commerce and building a fundamentally strong company.
It is important to remember that even the brightest and most innovative idea can sink into oblivion if the approach to its packaging, positioning, promotion and implementation is weak, not subtle and not professional.
The team is on its way to its final formation. The current market situation has affected everyone without exception - it's also a big reason for the problems we discussed above. However, I'm sure the team knows what they're doing and will be able to implement all their ideas - and we, as a community, will support them in all their endeavors. This doesn't mean we should blindly idolize every action - reasoned criticism is an important aspect in the development of any project and we should provide it, if there is one. We have an excellent foundation for further development in the long term right now - we have great projects, a great community, a unique idea behind Fabrik, solid partnerships and plans.
We just need to get together, focus, plan our actions, strengthen our internal management, and move forward.

P.S.:
I hope you are not too tired to read my opinion about our project. I love it very much and want to see it blossom and it is in our power to make it possible. Thank you all for reading, I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Remember, I don't pretend to be an expert on how it would be better - it depends primarily on the vision of the team. I just shared how I see the development of the project and the obstacles in its path. Also once again, I apologize for my English, grammar and perhaps a confusing and too stretched narrative. I hope you are not mad.
