Tornado Cash Token Drops 50% After Delisting on Binance

Following the delisting on Binance, the Tornado Cash token (TORN) cascaded by a staggering 53%, plummeting from its lofty perch at $3.93 to a startling $1.83. A cataclysmic freefall unleashed by the brusque pronouncement of its impending exile from the exchange's hallowed listings.

Scheduled for exile on the ominous date of December 7th, TORN will be ceremoniously expunged from the roster of esteemed assets, marking a grim farewell alongside the expulsion of BitShares (PTS), PERL.eco (PERL), and Waltonchain (WTC).

A tumultuous reverberation rippled through the markets, witnessed in the sweeping descent of these coins, all succumbing to a near 50% nosedive, as if the delisting decree heralded an unholy calamity.

In an illuminating disclosure, Binance substantiated its decision, affirming, "When a token no longer meets [our] standards or the industry changes, we conduct a more in-depth review and potentially delist the asset. We believe this best protects all of our users."

Augmented with intriguing facets of murky financial operations, the Tornado Cash website found itself conscripted into the OFAC sanctions list in August 2022. It served as an unholy conduit enabling attackers to clandestinely launder over $7 billion in cryptocurrency, with a staggering $455 million linked to the North Korean hacker cabal, Lazarus Group.

The labyrinthine saga continued as Dutch authorities apprehended developer Alexey Pertsev in a maelstrom of suspicions concerning involvement in money laundering and cloaking illicit financial channels. Standing defiant against these allegations, Pertsev vehemently denied any culpability. The evolving legal saga took a surprising twist in April 2023 when the courts cautiously altered his restrictive measure to house arrest.

However, the theatricality escalated further when the US Department of Justice descended like a tempest, indicting two co-founders, Roman Semenov and Roman Storm, with ruminations of their involvement in the cryptomixer's enigmatic orchestrations. With unwavering resolve, Storm adamantly rebuffed any semblance of culpability. A tale spiraling in intrigue and ambiguity, casting shadows upon the perplexing realm of cryptocurrency's ambiguous underbelly.
