Recently Ethereum has been going through an awkward phase that has generated much chatter. Has it lost its way or should it stick to the path it laid out for itself and has been following for quite awhile now. As someone who was on boarded into the ecosystem in the nft cycle. This has caused me to reflect on the time and effort i’ve both put into and gotten from this platform. I can firmly say that none of my recollections better capture my thoughts than my experience creating art for The Infinite Machine movie collection. While the project met obstacles and was not completed, what was true for me then largely remains true for me now.
36 artists from around the globe were given a square frame with an outline of the Eth logo. The prompt was simple, to interpret it into 10 variations representing the ethos of the Ethereum ecosystem and its community, here are mine.

Ethereum as the global, decentralized, permissionless world computer. A platform at its heart, built for all to enjoy. This first version serves as the basis for most of my other entries to follow.

A homage to the Ethereum Burn. A revolutionary innovation in the mechanics of Eth economics that has since been replicated in many ecosystems, further cementing ethereum’s culture as one that pushes boundaries and grows the playground for everyone.

These represent ethereum in its current second spot seen beside its ambition to become the hardest form of digital money. Bitcoin’s spiritual successor.I had another secret reason for designing two of these, its revealed further towards the end of this article.

Ethereum as a computing technology that grows in a symbiotic relationship with the natural environment. Creating a world where, the nature that produced humans and the technology that was produced by the humans, evolve harmoniously in a symbiotic relationship for the flourishing of All.

Ethereum as an economic centre of gravity that pulls all value that comes close to its influence into a stable orbit.

I imagine a world where the culture of building has created such flourishing on the terrestrial surface that future generations carry this forward into the depths of outer space.

Inpired by the vibrant culture of the nft space, where creatives are empowered to share their most intimate creations. A colourful and optimistic outpouring of the human spirit into the world computer. Also a really good excuse to immortalize a ‘69/420’ onchain.

A homage to the man that started it all.
We were also tasked to create 1 frame and 1 piece expressing what Ethereum means to us at an individual level.

Coming from the digital art world where it seemed to me that the art was becoming more and more about the tools we use and the technical chops to wield them. On Ethereum i found a community of like minded creatives who yearned to express their Souls through their work. A creative outlet for things long trapped found a place for release.

All of this seen through the “frame” of an African eye as secretly hidden into all four corners of my frame entry. iykyk.
Each work produced by all 36 artist was split into 4 quadrants and mixed up to produce 10499 unique variations. The final product while being a cocktail of various imaginations manages to maintain a coherence through the symmetric shape of the eth logo cutting across all 4.
I desired to take this concept and extend it further within the bounds we were given, and my secret reason for including the two similar pieces with a coin in the background was to later check if any of their quadrants happen to fall into the same piece, creating an extra layer of symmetry beyond the logo. Here are two that i managed to find, with an extra surprise that all 4 of the major quadrants (excluding the frame) also happen to come from my entries! Do let me know if you find any other interesting ones!

In summary, what was clear to me then and is still clear to me now, is that Ethereum is a force for good in the world!
