Dreadful cold wave conditions continued to grip north Kashmir while the western Himalayan plains were engulfed in fog as cold wave gripped Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Rains pounded large parts of Gujarat, leaving 11 people dead and over 200 injured in rain-related incidents, while over 15,000 people were evacuated from low-lying areas in the State. Three people were killed and over two dozen injured in one of the most intense dust storms that hit Maharashtra on May 2, over 40 people were killed in flash floods in Rajasthan and Jharkhand last week. A high-intensity dust storm accompanied by light rain, hailstorm and gusty winds hit north, west and central Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh late on Friday, killing four persons.
