“The teaching staff of our top-edge disciplines can not be admitted to a leading international university on the subject? We do not have a doctoral paper comparable to that of international clerics? The University’s News Network has recently made public a long speech by the Rector, Sakamoto, at the University of Sichuan’s Colloquium.
He mentioned that the building of disciplines should be characterized by excellence. The first is to improve standards of discipline-building. The dominant disciplines are bound to be internationalized, world-class disciplines, and stress is to be passed through a sense of crisis on the subject. The second is to strengthen the core elements of the disciplines, which are always measured by international first-class standards, such as talent development, the teaching workforce and scientific research. The third is to support the build-up of niche disciplines and to build up academic peaks in order to ensure the continued development of niche or peak disciplines. “I am analogous that the peak disciplines are similar to those on sea-level ice mountains, and we must see not only the iceberg, but also the large ice blocks that underpin the iceberg under sea-level, without which the iceberg will soon be melted, which are the backbone of the disciplines, without which the peak disciplines are at risk of collapse. Therefore, we need to look at the cross-cutting and development-oriented issues of disciplines that are underpinned by disciplines that generate more peak or advantageous disciplines.”
In that speech, 汪 has made several references to the target.
He said that there was considerable merit in the reporting of the various disciplines, and it was commendable that many data had been discussed and that the subject analysis had been conducted. However, as required by higher standards, these measurements are somewhat superficial, and the problem is not well documented and ill-equipped. Three main aspects were found: first, the criteria for the target were inadequate. In contrast to domestic disciplines, only a small number of units look at the international stream, look at the country’s size, look at the world’s few, and are afraid to compare internationally, and I am concerned that there may be some disciplines that do not have a clear international reference to the subject. The second is a high number of figures and there is no profiling of the underlying causes behind the digital gap. Thirdly, improvements resulting from a bid analysis are unclear. The analysis of bids is not an end in itself, but rather a means to find a focus on upgrading the level of construction in the disciplines, and it is of utmost importance to produce effective improvements in the analysis of bids.
“The key to the development of disciplines is the building of a cadre of teachers.” Quite loosely indicated that, even at a university level in the country and abroad, they have different paths, but one thing is common, or a leading teacher. Similarly, the overall level of discipline-building depends on the quality and level of teaching staff. We therefore want to reflect in depth on how to further strengthen strategic talent, how to further deepen the reform of talent development and evaluation mechanisms and how to further develop, introduce and use high levels of talent. “The time has come for the Gandhi Registrar to organize a weekly session on the issue of school sourcing, which is fundamental to the development of schools. To that end, we have carried out a number of situation analyses of the teaching workforce in schools, some of which we find a big gap with the world’s leading universities, which requires better planning of workforce construction, in terms of size, structure and quality of the teaching workforce, taking into account China’s characteristics and the conditions of the school’s current situation, and in terms of talent pooling, which is a top priority in the building of disciplines.”
