What do I mean Leisure Activists? I’m looking to build a DAO on a framework of cooperatives and community land trusts. I have been inspired by some of the things that have come out so far. The project began as a cooperative sharing marketplace in web2. I originally wanted to create a place to bring together tools, gear, space, and exchange in a meaningful way to bring leisure activities to more people. One issue with Airbnb is the lack of curation, you rarely know what you are going to get. I think it is still a great wave maker against the giant hotel industry, and from it have spurred the likes of Sonder or other aesthetic lodging solutions. Turo has made a mark for rental cars, boundless options for camper vans, etc.

I’m a designer, mostly an architect but some UX/UI work as I have gotten more onto the web. With a discord, Figma, Github, Are.na and now mirror site I would be keen to find others to build a web3 cooperative to pool resources and knowledge to activated unused spaces, share vacation rentals, share cars, camping gear, hobby gear, hobby space and gather IRL to build the next maker and outdoor movement. I think its really about leisure as an economy of interdepenence with natural systems. A group of people who make, but dont just make bullshit with lasercutters and plastic 3D printers, but who want to bring manufacturing back on a small scale. Or outdoor gear heads who love nature and well made things, not grabbing peaks and ‘slaying’. Go be you, but for the Leisure Cooperative DAO its about people who want to live lighter on the planet, share mother Nature’s bounty and COEXIST.
