Is The Metaverse a Fad?

The metaverse has been quite a huge prospect for a while now and almost everyone in the tech space has tried to get a piece of it. Just recently Microsoft bought the huge gaming, and maybe metaverse ready, company, Activation Blizzard (the creators of COD, World of Warcraft and Candy Crush) to bolster their hopes in the VR and AR future. But could the metaverse be just a fad?

Just this week the rebranded Meta lost an entire $250 billion worth of market cap. Coincidence, I think not…

I have seen a huge boost in content about the metaverse, even I have had my fair share, however as the previous fact displays the metaverse might be losing a little bit of steam.

At the moment AR and VR technology is so unremarkable it is hard not to think of it as a bit of a hassle to get into. If you are reading this you almost definitely have a smartphone, but do you have a VR headset, probably not. Now, I don’t take anything away from VR headsets, I have one and I love it, but I will say that the ease of getting out a smartphone or laptop is unmatched.

So, what do you think? Is the metaverse truly the future or is it just an excuse for the in-trouble Facebook. Well, only time will tell.
