The Cloud CDN market is expected to grow by USD 51.23 billion from 2021 to 2026, with the increase in demand for content, particularly streaming of video.
Pressure has been put on publishers, developers, and cloud providers for constant improvement in digital experience, and CDN providers are constantly challenged to bring servers closer to consumers to deliver content at high & reliable speed.
Cloudflare
According to its client base, Cloudflare looks to be the largest CDN. Over 1 million clients use the CDN services offered by Cloudflare. However, despite having a sizable client base, the B2C business model results in less data being saved overall.
Akamai
While Cloudflare has the most customers by count, Akamai has more enterprise customers. With at least a decade more in business than many of its competitors and owning more than sixty-five to seventy percent of the market in revenue. The majority of revenue comes from its large-scale enterprise partners.
Issues of a Web 2.0 CDN
We identify three common issues in the current state of Web 2.0 CDN:
The current CDN faces the challenge of bringing servers closer to consumers to deliver content at high & reliable speed, as well as data integrity.
Current consumers are powerless to stop the price hike of CDN due to their lack of competition as a result of regulations.
CDNs are divided into groups based on the services they offer, their target audience, and the location they cover. Due to distinct demands that a single CDN is frequently unable to provide, most firms that use a CDN require multiple CDN providers.
Now that we have identified these common issues in the current state of CDN, how will Web 3.0 CDN resolve these issues? Stay tuned for our next release as we explore the future state of CDN together.
