Comparing two Chains: Ethereum & Polygon

Overview:

Ethereum vs. Polygon: what is the difference, and which one is better? This dilemma is lately mostly discussed among creators. The choice of the network plays a vital role in the project’s success. But it also draws interest from the other crypto and blockchain enthusiasts. In this article, we thoroughly compare Ethereum and Polygon blockchain platforms.

** I will try to analyze the main metrics of both blockchains with the RRR model (Reach-Retention-Revenue) and issue my verdict.

All charts was created with Increment tool from Covalent team and you can check it through this link **

Reach:

The number of transactions in Matiс exceeds the number of transactions in Ethereum several times
The number of transactions in Matiс exceeds the number of transactions in Ethereum several times
And the number of transactions per second is very high (2 times more)
And the number of transactions per second is very high (2 times more)

Retention:

A few key concepts: 1. DAU - daily active users. Users that interact with blockchain 1 or more time per day. 2. MAU - monthly active users. Users that interact with blockchain 1 or more time per month. 3. Stickiness Ratio - Ratio of DAU / MAU (in %)
4. Active user days / Week - Days when users make actions with blockchain in one week.

Stickiness Ratio for Matic more than for Ethereum on 1% - 2%
Stickiness Ratio for Matic more than for Ethereum on 1% - 2%
Dau for Polygon is about 330.000 users and MAU about 3.500.000 users
Dau for Polygon is about 330.000 users and MAU about 3.500.000 users
Dau for Ethereum is about 350.000 users and MAU about 3.000.000 users

Days active per week a little more on Matic
Days active per week a little more on Matic

Revenue:

Ethereum earns several dozen times more than Polygon
Ethereum earns several dozen times more than Polygon
This is due to high fees in Ethereum and very low fees in Polygon.
This is due to high fees in Ethereum and very low fees in Polygon.
Only 1.2% of all gas were paid on Polygon and other 98.8% were on Ethereum

Conclusion:

Polygon is a good analogue of Ethereum with cheap commissions and good statistics, if you want to create a project and spend less money on its maintenance, then Matic is your choice, but if you want a larger solvent audience, then it is better to create something on Ethereum.
