Community Workstation, Month 1 Summary

It has been one month since standing up the WOW Pixies DAO Community Workstation. Here is a summary of what we have accomplished and what will come next.

Workstation Organization

  • Weekly Workstation Meetings - we opened a poll in our dedicated Discord channel to determine the best possible time and immediately jumped into a weekly meeting cadence. We have consistently had 9-10 participants each week, including a core group of 3-5 members.

  • Workstreams - to focus and prioritize our efforts, we organized three workstreams for our projects (see below)

  • Clarity (web 3 workspace software) - we built out the Community Group page within Clarity to onboard workstation members and keep them updated asynchronously. The Community Group also provides transparency to everyone in the DAO. Key components include:

    • Community Dashboard - overview & onboarding

    • Workstreams - with ability to click in to active initiatives, projects, and tasks

    • Notes - up-to-date meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and shared docs

Workstreams

  1. Community Building & Learning - In this workstream, we aim to build community by hosting events and coordinating activities where Pixies can have fun, get to know one another, learn together, and network.

  2. Community Rewards & Recognition - In this workstream, we endeavor to recognize and reward the participation and contributions Pixies make in and on behalf of the community.

  3. Community Experience - In this workstream, we seek to improve Pixie experience. We recognize Pixies are involved in a number of NFT and web3 projects, and believe that streamlined communications & opportunities boost engagement.

Month 1 Accomplishments

  • Active listening and engagement throughout Discord channels to understand and prioritize the desires of the community

  • Boosted activity in the General Chat channel to connect with the wider community

  • Launched a Fun & Games channel for playing Gartic

  • Hosted first Discord events: Pixie Practice Sessions (onboarding members to Voice Channel and Stages functionality), Game Night, Ad Hoc Game sessions, Ledger Set Up Workshop

  • Began re-organizing Discord to improve user experience including creating new sections such as Pixie Vault and Events & Activities, and consolidating other channels such as Pixie Chats

  • Installed the Groupflows Calendar Bot and began posting all Discord and Twitter events to the Pixie-Calendar channel which allows members to 1) view the event in their time zone, 2) add the event to their Google Calendar, and 3) RSVP to events

  • Activated the Events category at the top of Discord for members to view all upcoming events in chronological order

  • Hosted the Pixies World Challenge to drive engagement in the Stage 1 Planning of the DAO’s 10k NFT Collection

Cross-Workstation Collaborations

  • Received training from Research-Writing in Clarity and contributed ideas for optimizing Clarity for DAO use

  • Sought advice from Lawyer-Think Tank about a community learning activity idea, Fractional NFT Ownership. While this topic is of interest to members within the community, we determined that organizing this activity within the Pixie community was not a prudent initiative at this time. Instead of a hands-on experiment, it was suggested that we form a study group to explore the topic, something we may organize if the community expresses interest.

  • Worked with Art-Design to:

    • Create artwork for Pixies World Challenge announcement and POAP

    • Set up a project meeting series (in May) to determine next level POAP strategy/utility and optimize ease of distribution/claiming

  • Worked with Marketing-Growth-Partnerships to:

    • Mock up a social media content calendar to facilitate collaboration across workstations

    • Co-host Twitter Spaces with Guava Girls and Debbie Soon

    • Develop questions for a community survey

Looking Ahead

We eagerly await the results of the community survey which will guide our efforts in the month ahead. As the Pixies World Challenge wraps up, we also plan to focus our attention on community rewards starting with POAP utility and distribution. Additionally we have a number of events currently being planned:

  • Movie Night

  • Game Night(s) & more adhoc gaming competitions

  • Pixie Panel - NFT Trading

  • Watch Party - Lily Wu speaking at UN Women’s Entrepreneur Summit

Thank you for being part of our community and for your interest and participation in our Community Workstation!
