Woohoo I'm here! I made it to the future of the internet. This is my first post on mirror.xyz. I really didn’t understand the draw of Web3 until this week. If I’m honest, I probably still don’t understand it.
I find the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) to be the most intriguing aspect of current Web3 technologies. A standardized, distributed file system – not managed by some cloud-giant company – that uses peer-to-peer distribution of files. That should make it easy to use and extremely resilient. For some reason, the thought of it makes me excited!
Handshake domains from namebase.io also get me a little excited. I wish the process for aquiring them were a little more straitforward, but the possibilies are great! A top-level-domain for everybody! Pretty soon you could just type http://samyules/ and go to my site!
I started the auction process yesterday to aquire a few domains for myself. The auctions require $HNS coins, which currently must be purchased with $BTC. I had to re-download coinbase, but it did give me a way of burning up $25 worth of BTC I had laying around. It takes about 5 days to get through the auction process. Then I should be the proud owner of a handful of handshake domains. Cool!
I am excited to start learning, and to hopefully take advantage of all that Web3 has to offer. I hope it wins!
