About

Every day, we count on technology to provide us with open communication to the people we love, reliable information on the world around us, and to share our creativity and experiences. But, while it might be free to post a story or a tweet, you pay with your data, the very uniqueness that makes you, and trust a centralized opaque system to deliver it to the world.

The world needs an open platform to communicate, to share, and to publish, and the world needs builders like you to build it.

LFGrow is an event for just that, using Lens Protocol as the foundation to create a social platform with digital ownership-first experiences, tools for transparent moderation, censorship-resistant ways to publish and profit, and much more.

We can't wait to see what you build. LFGrow 🌿

TAG, YOU'RE IT

Today verification is controlled by social media platforms and not the communities that grow to use them. This stifles innovation and leads to verification being used for just one thing—proving you are who you claim to be.

What if social media verification meant more than just being a real person, and instead captured any label meaningful to a community?

Broadening verification to be an extensible system of tags that can be attached to individual users, communities, and posts would open up a rich set of new experiences.

What if a distributed fact-checking community could tag posts it has researched and evaluated?

What if a curated collection of articles written by MacArthur genius grant winners could be easily created and automatically kept up to date. What if an idea could be traced back to its origin through a tree of posts and replies?

What if a company's online profile could be tagged with its global carbon footprint?

FAQ

What is LFGrow?

LFGrow is a hackathon bringing together some of the top minds and experts decentralized social networks to build the future using Lens Protocol. We enable teams to build their ideas by providing an abundance of hacking resources like mentors, sponsors, and software.

What is Lens Protocol?

Lens Protocol is a composable and decentralized social graph, ready for you to build on so you can focus on creating a great experience, not scaling your users. You can learn more about Lens Protocol at lens.dev

I'm new to Web3, can I participate?

Absolutely! Our events are open to both beginners and veterans of the Web3 world. This event it build around Lens Protocol, which just launched, so most people will be building on it for the first time.

How much does it cost to attend?

LFGrow is 100% free for hackers. All that we ask of you is that you focus on building your project, check-in with us on your progress regularly, and participate in the community we build around this hackathon.

Is there a code of conduct?

Yes! For years, our core ethos has been to make it easy for anyone to dream big. To that end, we've developed a Code of Conduct.

How many people can be on a team?

You can form teams of up to 5 people. There are no restrictions for team members, so you can team up with hackers of any country or experience level!

Can I start working on my hack before the event?

No. In the interest of fairness, attendees should not be working on their projects before LFGrow begins and we do not allow participants to work on pre-existing projects. However, you can familiarize yourself with all the tools and technologies you intend to use beforehand!
