We are excited to announce that shielded voting, the privacy voting system power by Shutter Network is live on Snapshot! This article explain what shielded voting is and how you can use it today.
Shielded voting is a voting system in which the voters choices are private during the voting period and get revealed when the proposal closes. This prevents the voting process itself from influencing the vote results.
At its core, this voting system use a threshold encryption system designed by Shutter in its efforts to prevent front running. For more information on the implementation please read this technical overview on Shutter Network blog.
To enable shielded voting you need to be an admin or controller of a space and go to the settings page, in the “Voting” section, choose Shutter as a privacy option and click “Save”. Once you’ve done this change, all proposals from then on will use shielded voting. You can disable it anytime.

In this initial deployment the entities collaborating to perform the threshold encryption mechanism (the keypers) are not fully decentralized, if you are interested to run a keyper please contact us or Shutter Network. This is a beta release, the integration and the underlying threshold encryption is new and may contain unknown bugs.
