Humans are responsible for all art up until this point in natural history. Nothing can be created without some human intervention, or specific action.
Nowadays, we are accustomed to human art. We see it in galleries, we see it in museums, we see it on the internet, we see it at a street market, we see people of all kinds creating art (you get it).
If you were to walk into a gallery today, you would likely be greeted immediately by an attendant \whose main goal is to educate on the art and take orders.
Humans make art beautiful. Many of the biggest art collectors I know are fascinated by artists’ ability to create works, quite simply because they (the collector) could not do it on their own.
There is beauty in the innocence and pure talent of humanity. Displayed in art, we can actually stake a claim and own that beauty for ourselves, somewhat immortalizing the original artist and creating a timeless relationship with their work.
Now, the first time in history, we are seeing the proliferation of technology in art and creation of any kind. Let me explain.
If you didn’t know, 10K profile picture NFTs are generated on the blockchain.
The art itself is a compilation of unique traits created by a human being but at the end of the day, until the NFTs are generated (by technology) no human being has ever seen the unique piece that will ultimately be generated (not even the artist.
They are 100% generated by technology. Which creates almost endless possibilities for the final collection.
One of my good friends recently debuted his NFT project. He is an artist, one of my favorites, actually. He was so concerned about the appreciation of his original works compared to the end NFT project.
I ultimately explained to him that the true beauty of NFTs is the generative nature in which the final work is produced.
There is no degradation of a product that is influenced by technology. If anything, this unique relationship between humans and technology has created something completely different than we have experienced at any point in time.
Imaging Van Gogh created 10 pieces, then algorithmically created 100 1/1 unique NFTs from those original 10.
Van Gogh still created the first ten. The blockchain created the rest. Beautiful.
This topic is fascinating to me and I will explore more in the coming weeks.
Thanks for reading along. WAGMI.
