Sonet and Soda

Sonet is an open-source middleware that provides seamless backend services for applications to integrate social features, and Soda is Sonet’s first Web2 extension, a social application built on top of the middleware. We are empowering app developers to primarily focus on their frontend user experience, while we provide the comfort of building on the most optimized and connected Web3 infrastructure. In support of Sonet and Soda, we are creating a uniform payment system using current stablecoins to reconcile payments and fees for end users so that developers can focus on their apps.

Soda serves as a gateway for users to autonomously manage identity and data privacy at their entry points across metaverses. The goal of Soda is to be the main social dApp that connects Web3 end users. App developers can tap into our entry points and build on top of the Sonet usage middleware through our SDK, where end user experience will be enhanced and supported by the top web infrastructure protocols in a seamless way. Soda will consist of the following three components:

Bridging Web2 and Web3

Illustratively, Sonet is an all-in-one middleware platform and Soda is the extension providing a direct entry point to applications. We’re an integrator of blockchain services that provide all the backend infrastructure that optimize the applications built on our platform. Soda is the first application created using our middleware, and is the link between Web2 and Web3. We have highlighted it in the diagram below to show how it fits within our middleware ecosystem.

Our project extracts the key concepts of tokenization and assetization for various Web3/Web2 infrastructure services. The Soda Web2 extension resolves the problem of different pricing models across Web3/Web2 infrastructures and provides a SDK for application developers to easily use different infrastructure service providers. To do this, we are creating a uniform payment system using current stablecoins to reconcile payments and fees across the platform for end users so that developers can focus on their app. In the future, our own stablecoin system (Socash) will be integrated as a uniquely designed utility token based on the “burn on spend” concept to uphold the middleware connectivity.

The Future

We want to create a world where no matter what game is being played or what blockchain is being used, everything will be interoperable so that end users don’t have to worry about swapping tokens or paying unnecessary gas fees. We illustrate this point using the following diagram that shows the top gaming platforms being integrated with the Soda extension and Sonet middleware:

Use Case: Gaming
Use Case: Gaming

Soda is the first layer right below the applications. Through it we can connect different games that weren’t originally meant to interact with one another. That way, friends can still socialize and interact with one another without having to switch games. Players can trade gaming assets, record and share in-game moments, create a social community with one another, and even create guilds to recruit other gamers. This is just one example of an industry that can be revolutionized through Soda.

Communication through Soda

Soda enables three roles of communication:

  1. Keep self-sovereign user data as communication content

  2. Use Web2 applications as communication channel service providers

  3. Manage self-sovereign identity as communication entries

As the first application that’s been built on the Sonet middleware, as shown in the graphic above, it will extract the key concepts of tokenization and assetization from NFTs. By creating a general equivalent (medium of exchange) to evaluate asset property, and using token property to manage contents through existing Web2 applications, this project enables NFTs to fit in the current business model of Internet traffic monetization to form a brand new digital token usage market.

Driven by the above ideology, the related token economics utilizes two main methods for the general equivalent tool, which down the road will form an algorithmic stablecoin within its own ecosystem:

  1. tokenization usage for burn on spend

  2. assetization for mint on mining

Conclusion

Web3 still has a long way to go before it is widely adopted by most users. With Soda we allow that transition from Web2 to Web3 to occur in gradual increments that facilitate a comfortable experience for traditional Web2 users. The next big leap to Web3 may seem daunting, but with Soda’s extension and Sonet’s middleware support, we will lead the charge to revolutionize the Internet as we know it.
