After analyzing almost 500 Gitcoin Grants projects, I want to share some thoughts.
🤑 Beneficiaries.
Sometimes, I just go crazy with how you fill out your page. You must understand that a potential investor is looking at this information.
Typos, grammatical errors, lack of necessary information. You don't even need to write here. It's clear. What is this? Laziness? Lack of motivation? I don't know.
The structure of your text. When an investor visits your page, he should understand what your project is about in the first 15 seconds. Instead, he encounters huge texts about how you decided to start your company. Seriously? No one will read this without understanding what you are doing. Think about it, it's important! The essence of your idea in one sentence at the very beginning of the text. Thank you.
Twitter account. It is a pain. Think about a project account now. Post your routine there. Nothing is worse than having a Twitter created on the same day a grant application is created. Empty Twitter with no followers and no avatar. Putting any image on your Twitter will give you +100 credibility points. I have seen projects on Twitter without an avatar and with 0 followers. Would you like to invest in them?
💲Investors.
There are few authentic, selfless donors. They can be counted on the fingers of one hand of a sawmill worker. Most people aim to make a profit. That's fine. Let's break down goals and strategies.
Apart from helping the project, I see two primary purposes for donating Gitcoin grants.
Get benefits from the project you donate to.
Get marks from GG on your wallet. Increase its anti-sybil status and make it healthier.
So, the first point. If we proceed from the hypothesis that no one will give you anything for one donation, except for Optimism, which is bestowed on everyone - this is an exception. So, how should we act?
Firstly, we must decide on the projects we will donate to. To do this, research or use my tables, which you will find above. An important evaluation factor: Are you ready to go into this project with all the money? If the answer is yes, then this is a 100% donation. In all other cases, it is a donation of $ 1 in pursuit of a role in Discord as it was in FusionX. No need to donate to everything! Choose projects that you like or see as promising. Everything is simple.
The second point implies your involvement in donations to Gitcoin Grants. Everything is simple here. From round to round, we gain volume. Do not forget to donate to environmental projects. This is important. This will show you in a good way, and for this, you can get a separate mark in the form of NFT or something like that.
Don't forget to donate more than $1. This way, you will begin to differ from the drop hunter and Sybil. 20+ bucks per band project is a great idea.
