Last week, $SELF went live: soulbound, time-denominated, earned through participation. This week, we built the spend loop.
Your balance is now accurate everywhere. With the transition to our reimagined $SELF token our infrastructure needed updating to support it. Your profile shows your current, spendable $SELF; the live amount reflecting the gentle season-by-season fade. What you see is exactly what you can spend today. Your Tenure standing (Curious → Elder) sits right alongside it, unchanged and permanent. The two together tell the whole story: what you've earned over time, and what you have to spend right now.
Marketplace spending is live. Pick $SELF at checkout and your contribution is burned to pay for the artifact. Before anything happens, a confirmation screen shows you exactly what will be spent, season by season, so there are no surprises. Your most recent $SELF is spent first, so your participation goes as far as it can.
Event tickets now accept $SELF. When an event has a $SELF ticket price, you can register by spending the $SELF you've earned. Show up, earn $SELF, use it to attend the next effort. Attendance still counts permanently: when you check in and complete an event, you may (depending on organizer) receive a verifiable accreditation that lives on your Identity page and is yours for good.
A few honest notes: spending $SELF is final. A $SELF ticket isn't refundable if you change your mind (if an event is cancelled, any $SYSTEM you paid is refunded; $SELF is not, because it's already been spent). And $SELF spent on tickets or in the marketplace is retired, not routed to a pod. This is time being redeemed, not currency changing hands.
As more communities join the ecosystem, you'll be able to spend $SELF earned elsewhere; honored at each community's chosen recognition rate. If that ever applies, the checkout screen will show you the rate before you confirm.
$SELF is verified human time, recorded where it was spent, that fades unless renewed. It never becomes money.
Order management was checking for behind-the-scenes tokens that had drifted out of sync with the platform's permission system. Managing orders now follows the same pod permission as managing products. If your role has Marketplace Manage, you see the Manage Orders tab and can work through orders end to end; review, mark as preparing, shipped, and delivered.
One consistent rule everywhere: the permission that lets you add products is the same one that lets you ship them.
Anthropic changed their plan structure, which briefly caused errors in Sensemaker responses. We've set up separate credits and everything is back to normal. Expect more documentation updates soon.
We strongly recommend registering for events within the SpiritDAO app (Events section) at app.spiritdao.org, it's how we gauge attendance and shape the flow of each session.
