Konan stood by the gates of the Aeronad outpost, adjusting his pack for the long journey ahead. As he prepared to leave, Phoknad and Pikanad approached him.
“I want to bid you farewell, Konan,” Phoknad said. “And I hope you succeed in rescuing your father. The journey will be treacherous, so I’m sending Urus and Pikanad to accompany you.”
“Wait, who?” Konan asked, his voice rising. “No, no, no. I think I can manage with Orok.”
“It wasn’t a request,” Phoknad said sharply. Behind Konan, Urus the massive, growling beast stepped forward, his deep snarl making Konan squeak.
“Okay, okay!” Konan said, holding his hands up. “But I can’t take Pikanad with me. He’s too young. Don’t you fear for his safety?”
“I believe it’s time for him to discover his own path,” Phoknad said firmly. “This journey will shape him into the leader his people expect him to be. Besides, he has the Amulet of Okra to guide him. He’s a great navigator and can lead you where you need to go.”
Konan sighed. “It doesn’t sound like I have a choice in this.”
Urus licked his face with a long, slimy tongue, leaving Konan’s face wet and sticky.
“Okay…” Konan muttered, his expression frozen in disgust.
“He likes you,” Pikanad said with a grin.
“Yeah, after trying to eat me,” Konan replied sarcastically.
They climbed onto Urus, and the journey began. As they traveled, Pikanad broke the silence. “So, Konan, what was your life like before coming here?”
Hesitating, Konan answered, “I ran my father’s company, Kalin Industries. We provided innovative and sustainable technology to people.”
“What’s an industry?” Pikanad asked.
Konan chuckled. “It’s a business, but I doubt you’d understand…..Things here are… a bit primitive.”
“No, it’s not,” Pikanad said, offended. “There’s a whole civilization out there, thanks to the Doc. We have cities and advanced technology across the Monad Verse.”
Surprised, Konan asked, “How do you know all this?”
Pikanad smiled, touching his amulet. “This amulet projects knowledge and paths to me. But my mother says I need to grow, which is why I’m on this journey.”
Konan gave him a small smile. “You’re smart for your age.”
“Thanks,” Pikanad replied.
As Urus sped forward, Konan noticed a ledge ahead. “Uh, Pikanad? Are you sure we’re going the right way?”
“The amulet says we are,” Pikanad assured him.
“No, the amulet is about to make us jump that ledge!”
“Trust the amulet.”
Urus sped up, charging straight for the edge. Konan braced himself, squeezing his eyes shut. But instead of falling, they passed through a mirage and landed safely on the other side.
“See?” Pikanad said smugly. “Trust the amulet. Welcome to the land of the Chogz.”
Ahead lay a bustling city filled with markets, schools, and buildings. Chogz of all kinds walked the streets, and merchants traded goods from across the Monad Verse.
As they approached the gates of a large castle, guards stopped them. “What business do you have here?”
“I’m an emissary from Chief Phoknad of the Aeronads,” Pikanad announced confidently. “This is Konan, son of the great Doctor, and Orok.”
The guards stiffened at the mention of the Doctor. They looked at each other in disbelieve. “follow me” one said.
Inside the throne room, King Zagart loomed above them. “You claim to be the Doctor’s son? Then prove it. Our water supply is poisoned, and my people are falling ill. Solve this problem, and I will believe you.”
Konan froze. “But I don’t…..”
“We’ll do it,” Orok interrupted, bowing.
Outside, Konan exploded in frustration. “What were you thinking? I know nothing about this place!”
“Destiny,” Orok replied simply. “I believe in you.”
ARE YOU INSANEEE, Konan screamed hysterically,
”Okay…...konan huffs…. there’s no time for this…. “Where’s this river?”
“It flows from the outskirts into town,” Pikanad said.
“Then let’s start by talking to the townsfolk,” Konan said.
Before they could begin, a merchant’s scream cut through the air. “Thief! Thief!”
A cloaked Chog darted through the market, clutching stolen fruit.
Orok smirked. “Looks like the universe just pointed us to our starting point.”
“I’m surrounded by crazy, Konan smacks his head in disbelieve.
