The world is drowning in tokens. Memecoins, creator coins, streamer coins, appcoins, $50 billion worth of digital assets promising community but delivering red charts.
Loose conglomerations of anons post "gm" in bloated Discord servers. There's no easy way to financially align believers who add value. No shared purpose. No treasury to fund growth. Just a sea of holders waiting for developers to "do something".
Coins without cults die.
Templ exists to resurrect them.

A Templ is a paid chat room dedicated to building a meaningful and aligned community around any coin. To enter a templ, you pay a one-time tithe in that coin.
Imagine “The PEPE Palace,” where entry starts at 1 million PEPE (~$6). When you pay your tithe, it splits that PEPE automatically:
→ 30% burnt 🔥
→ 30% to the Templ's treasury
→ 30% distributed to existing members
→ 10% protocol fee (funds messaging infrastructure and drives value to the future Templ token via buy-and-burn)

The price to join increases with every new member (via a customizable bonding curve). Early believers get in cheap. Latecomers pay more. Everyone benefits from growth.
Each new templ is unique with its own rules and configurations, unlocking different coordination dynamics for the same token.

Templs leverages one of the best features in decentralized finance: transparent governance and accounting. Every new joiner increases the treasury and also brings a new person who can propose how the treasury is used and vote on it.

Everything from using the treasury to reconfiguring the templ can be put to a democratic vote that is only executed if the majority votes "Yes". However, templs can also be dictatorships where the creator has absolute power over their configuration and the use of their treasury. One fun twist is that democratic templs can vote themselves into dictatorships, as any contract variable change can be put to a governance vote.
The Base chain and the XMTP network are built to be censorship-resistant. Templs are an embodiment of the crypto-anarchy: communities owned by themselves, governed by themselves, powered by unstoppable technology.

With every new member, the possibilities multiply:
Supply is burnt, creating deflationary pressure
Treasury grows large to fund dev teams, viral campaigns, and exchange listings
Word of mouth spreads across communities
Templs compete for mindshare and members
Some pool resources. Some merge. Some declare war.
Having a successful Templ becomes a competitive advantage. Coins with active Templs prove they're serious. They have coordinated holders, shrinking supply, and capital to deploy. They're not just speculation, they're movements.

Templ v1 launches today on Base. Explore it at templ.fun or via our mini app on Baseapp and Farcaster. Templ chats run on top of XMTP: "a messaging network that’s quantum-resistant, open source, and as secure as Signal." - XMTP Co-founder Shane Mac
Our founding Templ is The Wormhole.
Built on top of Templ founder's creator coin, $MARCOWORMS, it's where early believers can test the platform, debate strategy, and help battle-test Templ's protocol so we can reach the point of enabling the permissionless creation of new Templs for everyone.

DISCLAIMER: Templ protocol is still in beta and has not undergone an independent audit from a reputable firm yet. DYOR. To mitigate risk, we restrict unlimited token approvals, and disabled the permissionless launch of new templs while we harden our security.
Go to The Wormhole join page
Connect your wallet to the app and authorize the usage of XMTP
Use $MARCOWORMS tokens to join
IMPORTANT: Use Farcaster Miniapp wallet or a Web wallet to join it for now, no support for Baseapp and Base wallet yet due to them not supporting signatures (which are required for joining xmtp). This means that if you buy zora creator coins in zora wallet you won't be able to use them to join the first test templ, so do it in your farcaster/web wallet.
Future expansions we’ll explore after enabling permissionless creation on Base: L2s, SVM support, Hyperliquid, Telegram, Discord.

"There are many things which bitcoin and memecoins share, at least the best ones, and that is their extreme cultiness, their extreme almost neo-religious zeal that their holders embody." - Murad Mahmudov
Templ gives that zeal a home. It aligns incentives across believers. It transforms scattered communities into coordinated movements with capital, purpose, and staying power.
As AI reshapes the economy, our social networks must evolve from passive chats into incentive-aligned social clubs that generate income for members. Telegram groups don't cut it. Discord servers aren't enough. The future demands financial coordination, not just loose vibes.
In 2-3 years, we envision millions of Templs uniting hundreds of millions of believers worldwide. Top tokens will each have a dozen competing Templs with overlapping membership, coordinated treasuries, and shared missions.
"Has a Templ" will become the quality signal for serious projects. Communities without one will feel the FOMO. Launching a Templ is a low-cost and high-return action anyone can permissionlessly do for their community.
And perhaps we’ll even partner with launchpads so new coins can have Templs on Day 1.
Memecoins are becoming culture coins.
Creator coins are social stocks.
Streamer coins are attention economies.
Templ unites them all.
The temples of tomorrow are on-chain. And the first one is open today.
We are waiting for you in The Wormhole!
In our next article we highlight all features of the Templ protocol as well as the beta app. For now we'll let you explore for yourself!
P.S. There is no $TMPL token… yet... don't fall for scams!
