Aluminum Phoenix

36,011 feet in the air has been the distance of a lifetime.

Roaming through bumpy hills of weightless water,

I wondered where did I let go of everything.

When did I say, this is enough, and then go on to make such a profound decision for myself?

As I pondered, the passionate echoes of laughter and cheer reverberated in the lungs of this aluminum Phoenix as it glides towards Gaia.

Children jump and twirl in its belly.

Watching tv shows and eating pretzels.

Absolute freedom of faith engulfs them despite being in the stomach of such a creature.

While the hills of ice waltz together, occasionally waving to us, my conscious could not break focus...

I could not help but stare at this 5x10 screen of bone and flesh that displays,

“You’re almost home.”

Home.

Surrounded by pure ever-flowing love of the earth.

Surrounded by the smiles of genuine hugs and happy memories that make room in the skull.

Surrounded by her.

Goddess.

What is a stone’s throw for a god is an eon for mankind.

Being away for so long allowed the small sprout in my heart to grow thick, strong vines that stretch towards the sun.

To bask in your radiance is the will of my heart.

I pray that soon the ore avifauna grants me passage to the land of Pele.

So I may return to her.

So I may return to me.
