Started the week minting my second NFT, Boy’s Club Zaddy.
Apparently I had gotten a two for one deal on this one…An unsolicited Bully Ape NFT that was just waiting to rug me as confirmed by friends of discord and IRL.
Annoyed, confused… I hid the dumb thing in my wallet and don’t plan to ever open it. That’s the way it goes… or at least for now.
On that same note, listened to interesting podcast on this exact topic that you can find here. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2bIHmMizAhQglEUPU0ptGw
What is our digital identity and how do we protect it in web3? disco.xyz is clearly thinking about this. Back to the opening thought, I am not a bully, I do not support bullies so therefore I would not consent to receiving a Bully Ape but here I am stuck with this Ape that I never gave consent to own. JUST DON’T OPEN IT!
What about NFTs as subscription models? Peter Yang wrote an awesome piece on this here. https://creatoreconomy.so/p/are-nft-memberships-the-future-of-subscriptions?s=r
But what if NFTs are just really freaking fun.
Take a look at Andrew’s journey… https://twitter.com/andrewbadr/status/1503436760239464449
Or if you prefer to listen… https://open.spotify.com/episode/221arsxWaHnxZrewAjons8
Got to chat with Andrew this week… brainstorming my own NFT journey with the launch of my first giveaway of a Surgewomen, which is still live… head to my twitter to enter to win!
Power of community… so intuitive but this example really makes it real.
Now what about the Play to Earn model… I learned some of the mechanics about STEPN. But is this a sustainable model? https://crypto.nateliason.com/p/stepn?s=r Special TY to Kevin + Eric for helping me get up to speed this week.
All of these random thoughts lead back to my question from last week… How do I use Twitter in web3?
First and foremost the community. Twitter is the most direct way to engage with other people learning and living in web3. Therefore whether that is reading a post, a linked article, or just simply sending a cold DM to connect, you learn a lot from other people. Recognizing this takes a level of perspective. You have to be willing to be listen to other people’s viewpoints and then decide for yourself your own viewpoint. What gives us clarity in deciding is seeing all the angles.
Secondly via a Twitter hole. Like the youtube hole content will vary but it may require you to dig into not just the twitter post but a discord channel, podcast, or variation of media. A significant amount of time will be required and you may not find any of the answers you thought you’d find, but you will be a hell of a lot smarter on things you didn’t know existed.
This definitely requires more thought, but headed to catch a flight. If you are traveling by the way… so is everyone else so get there early.
Till next week. Keep it real.
