The Temple of Heaven is located southeast of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It was built in the 18th year of Emperor Yongle's reign in the Ming Dynasty (1420 AD), formerly known as "The Temple of Heaven and Earth". The Temple of Earth, the God of Earth, is a place dedicated to offering sacrifices to heaven and praying for a good harvest, and was renamed the Temple of Heaven.
