The Legend of Toad the Great
The Legend of Toad the Great is a philosophical and economic thriller that tells the story of the fictional character — a toad accused of cyber crimes and imprisoned in the world of memes. The work, entirely hand-drawn, began in August 2024 and currently consists of 133 pages — the first half of a larger project to be completed by Q1 2026. In February, we created 1,500 digital copies (NFTs) of the first edition of the Linea-themed cover, for which we minted its digital representation as a lim...

The Toads PFP collection is the culmination of about a year of work, during which over 500 original, hand-drawn layers were created.

Building on that analogy, the process of valuing digital artworks in generative or PFP collections mirrors the logic that emerged during the Pop Art era: although the medium has evolved — from silkscreen printing to algorithmic generation — the philosophical foundation remains similar. Both challenge the notion of uniqueness by embracing reproducibility as a creative act, transforming repetition into a field for variation and meaning. In both contexts, value is derived not solely from material uniqueness but from the interplay between concept, context, and cultural resonance — where the significance of each piece depends on its position within a larger system of iterations, symbols, and collective imagination.

The visual foundation of the series — composed of 6,666 unique artworks — is based on the iconic silhouette of Toad the Great’s logo.
From a symbolic perspective, the work is deeply intertwined with the broader artistic universe of the project, which also includes the comic The Legend of Toad the Great, a philosophical and economic thriller, and the first collection, The Birth Lottery. Both explore representations of our civilization throughout history, portrayed through allegories of toads organized within a social pyramid, reflecting themes of power, chance, and human hierarchy.
Each artwork is composed of multiple layers — up to six levels in total:
Backgrounds (36)
Skins (56)
Eyes (49)
Single Characters (37) or Common Dress (146) + Common Hats (130)
Accessories (48)
Bad Habits (5)

Unlike most other generative collections that use similar layering techniques, rarity here does not depend on these layers. Instead, it is determined by whether the image features one of the 31 unique characters + the Toad the Great logo, which represents the rarest trait in the collection.

Rarity Model
The rarity model is divided into three main tiers:
Super Rare (~0.5%) – These are the images featuring the Toad the Great logo, the spiritual leader of the project.
Rare (20%) – 1,333 items – Featuring 31 unique characters connected through references and Easter eggs to the first collection and the comic.
Common (80%) – 5,333 items – Generic characters that include references and logos of current partners and the Linea Logo, where the collection is minted.
As a larger collection built on a three-layer structure (unlike the first one), this series encodes its three rarity tiers directly on-chain.

In this structure, Common artworks feature a single attribute, while Rare and Super-rare (Toad the Great) pieces each contain two attributes, reflecting their enhanced complexity and symbolic depth. This on-chain framework ensures full transparency, verifiability, and a clear mapping of the collection’s hierarchical design.
Utility vs. Rarity
In the first phase of the project, the rarity of each PFP will not affect its utility level. Every artwork will serve as a form of on-chain, cross-platform referral identity, independent of its rarity.
Further details will be available in the White Paper in the coming days.
