1000 true fans in 2022
We have heard a lot of talk about the 1000 true fans concept and as web3 culture grows this concept has become more and more popular. But I am yet to see it put into practice to its full potential. I believe that in the web3 age 1000 true fans have the potential to launch an artist career.
According to music industry legend Wendy Day, an artist needs approximately 150k to “break” in the music industry. This figure has a lot of variables
As we know via the 1000 true fans concept is that you need 1000 true fans paying you 100 dollars a year to be self-sufficient. That is 100k a year. But I have no interest in begging my 1000 fans to pay me 100$ a year just so I can make a living. I want to give them a reason to support and know their money is being put into rewarding them. I want to make my 1000 true fans proud and create a legacy and experiences that they felt they were a part of that are being appreciated on the world stage. I want to create an open-source blueprint for the music industry and independent artists alike to be able to use to build their own success stories.
So what if 1000 true fans got behind an artist and the artist invests that directly into their career? Would that artist become the first actual mainstream success story from web3? I think they would.
