4 pieces of beef (about 200 g each) 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 tablespoons butter 1 large onion cut into rings 1 cup beef broth 1 glass of red wine 2 tablespoons tomato paste 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 tablespoon flour Salt and freshly ground black pepper dried thyme Instructions:
First, heat vegetable oil over high heat in a large skillet. Add beef chunks and sear until golden brown on both sides, 3-4 minutes per side. After that, remove the meat from the pan and put it on a plate.
In the same skillet, add the butter and onion, and cook over medium heat until the onion is soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Add the garlic and tomato paste and sauté for 1-2 more minutes.
Add the flour to the pan and quickly stir in the onion to create a sauce. Gradually add beef broth and red wine, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to simmer over medium heat until the sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
Return the beef chunks to the pan with the sauce and cook over medium heat for another 5-7 minutes, until the meat is cooked through to your desired doneness. Baste the meat periodically with the sauce,
