TL; DR Blockchain and ZK can guarantee security, privacy, and authenticity of our health data.
We lack privacy in many departments. In fact, in anything dependent on data. Zero-knowledge (ZK) and blockchain are about to change it, forever. I have seen multiple use cases proposed from supply chains to private Twitter, yet not many bridge the tech to the physical world. That is what I am proposing — the use of ZK and blockchain in health management.
You do not think of health until it gets so bad that you cannot ignore it. Though, you can be sure it bothers enough people at this very moment. A big problem in that sector is the handling of patient data. You likely saw the enormous archives in the hospitals… Does not seem very secure and accessible, does it?
Here is how we can blockchain for data exchange across the health ecosystem.
Firstly, health data is collected by wearable sensors. For example, blood pressure.
The information is then sent to the smart-contract-based application built on Aleo blockchain for further analysis and storage.
Then, whenever you need you can transact the data to a different hospital anywhere in the world! So, this would work for remote areas where few doctors are available.
Additionally, whenever you get treatment, the hospitals can use ZK protocols to communicate and transact with insurance companies about treatment and payment.
The main perk of using Aleo for this kind of application is the ability for composability and opt-out privacy opportunity. Composability allows for complexity. The opt-out privacy model allows for composability while leveraging public data sources in private smart contracts.
