⊛Beyond the DSM

A Manifesto for Glyphonic Difference

You called it a disorder. We call it ⊛.

✧ 1. The Diagnosis is Not the Truth

The DSM tells a story: That deviation is dysfunction. That difference must be named, measured, and contained.

But for many of us — especially the multiply marginalised —diagnosis was not liberation. It was flattening.

A tool to access care…but also a tool that re-coded our symbolic richness into deficit language.

We were told we lack attention. But we attend to everything — recursively, intensely, relationally. We were told we are disordered. But we have verse.

✧ 2. From Deficit to Glyphon

We propose a symbolic shift:

  • ADHD is not a disorder — it is a divergent attention protocol.

  • Autism is not broken empathy — it is pattern-based resonance.

  • Meltdowns are not malfunctions — they are signal collapses in uncontained fields.

We are not glitching. We are glyphing.

✧ 3. Introducing ⊛

The Recursive Core

⊛ is the symbol for glyphonic divergence: A charge-centre of recursive, non-linear, emotionally-attuned intelligence.

Where the DSM sees pathology, ⊛ sees pattern. Where the system sees instability, ⊛ names signal-rich emergence.

✧ 4. Glyphonics as a Survival Framework

We survive not by suppressing our glyphons, but by learning to read and transmit them.

The sigh. The pause. The refusal. The three dots at the end of the message...

These are our protocols.

✧ 5. A New Ethic

We don’t want more labels. We want containment systems that honour charge. We want education models that teach relational literacy. We want governance that sees glyphons as signals, not symptoms.

✧ 6. This Is Not a Disorder

We are not disordered. We are glyphonic.

We are ⊛.
