Rabbit hole

Summer 2021

I kept telling my friends it would be like the roaring ’20s with folks vaccinated, venues opening, and everyone excited to go create two years’ worth of memories. Strangely the most exciting event for me was a conversation with a friend of a friend who kept telling me about how crypto would affect finance and moreover this increasingly popular token Solana. I’d always been interested in finance, the incentives of economies, governance, and the markets so this really piqued my interest. I went home, did my own research, and started my first dive into the world of web3. I decided to start investing in crypto and started off with Solana.

1 month later - Solana Summer.

The startling accuracy and implications of my Solana discussions convinced me to really take web3 more seriously. I spoke to a couple of friends who told me to just get on Twitter follow a few folks to get an understanding of the area - and that’s exactly what I did. Two weeks later I had created a Coinbase wallet and had bought my first ens username, quite honestly I just bought the name in case ens names popped off(I would have loved to have vikasvs.com so I thought might as well get vikasvs.ens).

3 months later - $ENS airdrop

All the readings and content from Twitter pointed me to the next stop: OpenSea and NFT’s. I didn’t really grasp the implications nor the fervent spending but I have always been a learn-by-doing person, so I played around, bought NFT’s, and learned how to create NFT’s.

2 weeks later - $SOS airdrop

web3 has repeatedly shown me interest, commitment, and effort are not only ways to learn more about the area but are actively rewarded and incentivized. Mirror is my next step down this rabbit hole that has broadened my perspective more in 6 months than in the last 3 years.
