Now say it back…….I’m joking.
Hello, I’m Kenneth & welcome to my cafe (or blog? I’m not sure what to call this yet).
To kick off my first post on mirror.xyz, I feel like it’s only appropriate for me to give everyone an introduction of myself and why I decided to start writing.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m Kenneth and I am fairly new to the whole web3, crypto, defi space. I have heard about Bitcoin back in 2015 and Ethereum in 2017 but it has never peaked my interest to the level as it has today. Nonetheless, I bought a few (very little) Bitcoin and Ethereum with the mindset that I’ll probably never see that money again.
Boy, was I wrong and here I am today. It wasn’t until earlier this year - back in March to be exact. I don’t remember the exact details of what I was reading or what podcast I was listening to, but I stumbled upon NBA Top Shot and got hooked instantly because it was a a quick and fun way to make an extra buck, selling the moments or NFTs that you would get from opening packs. The barrier to entry was much lower than CryptoKitties where you had to transact in ETH. Like most people who got into the NFT & crypto rabbit hole - NBA Top Shot was the gateway drug.
I started spending all my free time researching more about NFTs - browsing through Rarible & OpenSea. I ended up buying my first NFT on Rarible and learned about the infamous gas fees which turned me off for about a month until I heard about crypto gaming and gaming NFTs. I don’t remember the exact details on what I was reading or listening, but the play2earn genre and gaming NFTs instantly clicked for me. Like many other millennials - I grew up playing Neopets, Runescape and Warcraft. I saw the potential in crypto gaming and I wanted to be a part of it.
For me, it was the potential of crypto gaming that pulled me into this web3 world and my curiosity that led me down multiple rabbit holes. I decided that it would be good idea for me to write about crypto gaming as I’m learning more and more each day. I felt like this would be a great platform to share what I’m learning, my POV, thoughts and to learn from the community as well.
So here it is - the start of an adventure.
