To everyone's shock, beloved Farcaster mainstay and Clanker founder proxystudio.eth turned out to be a thief who had nearly wrecked a previous project, under a previous pseudonym. The rest of the Clanker team had no idea and moved fast to remove him. The whole Farcaster ecosystem is still digesting this revelation.
Some questions that emerged from the incident: Is forgiveness possible, or advisable? When are second chances (or third ones) a good idea? Can pseudonymous identities be trusted? Are the benefits of pseudonymous culture worth it, when the ability to switch names can provide cover for bad actors?
There is no single answer to any of these quandaries, and undoubtedly we will discuss them again in the future.
