There are three types of moments that I particularly enjoy in my life:
The time when we successfully finish a project, especially the problem-solving stage
The time I spend relaxing with my family
The time I watch my favorite sports competitions.
At my company, we work on a project basis with teams of colleagues and clients. It is always very rewarding for me to achieve our goals and see the smiles on our client's faces after working hard as a team. The team environment is great—spending a few months together helps create a sense of unity and build strong, almost family-like, relationships. We do not only work together, but also talk about various topics, share interests and have fun.
For example, on my current team, there are colleagues of five nationalities, creating a great opportunity to learn about different cultures while working towards a common goal. I am also truly inspired by working with a male partner from our Wroclaw office who is a real role model to me.
In terms of my private life, I recently took a holiday to attend my friend's wedding in Prague. Taking my newborn son with me was a bit of a challenge, but he managed the trip well and I had a very happy and relaxing time with my family.
One of the great things about my company is that we enable colleagues to manage a full life. We have many flexibility programs like «Take Time», which allows employees to take longer breaks between projects, and traditional part-time programs like working 80%. It is great to see that many colleagues use those programs. As a working father, I work part-time myself, which makes it very easy for me to manage my time.
Watching football and racing Formula 1 gives me a huge dose of adrenaline, which I don't get in normal life. Non-sports fans often ask extreme fans why they’re so into sports. It all seems to come down to the sense of community and fascination being a fan of a sports team offers. When we want to escape work and other real-life stressors, it can be nice to turn our undivided attention to sports. Doing so allows us to experience collective glory when our team does well and gives us hope for better even when they don’t.
In describing how I spend my time in my life, I would like to share some essential principles and express one small regret:
We can spend a lot of time doing various works, but we can never get back the time we spent
It always flows in a forward direction, which means time is irreversible. So, we should never waste time
Most of us know that time can never be brought back, but we still waste it doing unnecessary things or doing nothing
All successful people consider time as more important and valuable than money
We very often ask the question starting from When…, think too much about tomorrow, and forget to enjoy the moment
The sad thing I promised to explain is that unfortunately in real life we don't have cmd+Z to fix some of our mistakes, which might be for the best, but what's really sad is that we forget to enjoy this minute, hour, day and focusing on imaginary future thinking in «when» paradigm.
Do not waste your time – When is now!
All the best, ezze
