Contrary to popular belief: you create your luck.
Luck is a numbers game that you only lose when you give up.
You need to be consistent and show up even when you don't want to.
Open your mind.
We can prime our brains for luck by seeing opportunities where others don't. What are you afraid of? View the world through a kaleidoscope. There are always two sides to a story.
Experiment a lot.
Think of life in experiments. That way, you lower the expectations, cost, and risk. There are games all around us, and the longer you stay in the game, the likelihood of success compounds. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Diversify your portfolio of risk and embrace failure as a way to learn.
Explore and be curious.
We are the heroes of our own stories. Adventures open you up to finding treasures. Every coffee chat, interaction, and DM can be an opportunity in disguise.
Don’t be so serious.
The less serious you take yourself, the more you allow yourself to get past your idea of perfect. Done is better than perfect. How much fortune we encounter is a result of our mindset and behavior. Deal with bad luck by practicing gratitude.
Trust your intuition.
Don’t let fear guide your decision-making. 100% certainty is unrealistic. Think of decisions in confidence levels. Examine the risk of making a decision sooner than later. Make easily reversible decisions sooner.
Learn/Build in public.
Putting yourself out there creates opportunities for good fortune to find you. Think out loud. You never know who you might impact. By learning and in public, we create opportunities for serendipitous encounters. So, work on niche side projects and share the process behind the scenes.
Doing anything every day for 30 days is a test of discipline and persistence. I find it helpful to remember to remain persistent and never give up.
Increase the level of luck in your life by putting yourself in more positions where you can be “lucky”. Serendipity smiles upon the bold, persistent, and prepared.
