How Often Should a Project Roadmap Be Updated?

Project Roadmap

During Planning and Initial Execution

In the early phases, the roadmap should be reviewed every 2–4 weeks as assumptions are validated and details become clearer.

During Execution

Once the project is underway, a monthly or milestone-based review is usually adequate. Any significant changes to scope or timing should trigger an update immediately.

After Major Changes

If a new regulation appears, a key stakeholder shifts priorities, or a major risk is realized, the roadmap must be updated straight away to reflect the new reality.
