Just as what I wrote in the last article: Web3 IP has a very short life cycle. I will share few thinkings about this problem in this article. Combined with what Sakura NFT is doing right the moment.
Web3 IP vs. Traditional IP
I have been working in the IP field for many years. The key to an IP's vitality lies in having a strong concept and a compelling story. We could see that many classic myths and stories are still being adapted into various types of literature and widely spread.
Ideally, IP development should spend most of time on concept and story development before moving to production and marketing. However, in today's IP industry, more effort is often placed on the production phase. For example, with "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," many adaptations focus on detailed drawings and 3D renderings of familiar scenes like recruiting generals and battlefield fights. While these visually appealing productions can capture audiences' attention for a few months, technological advancements quickly make them out of fashion.
Let’s look back to Web3 IP, the situation is even worse. Many projects skip the crucial concept and story phase, jumping straight into production with a focus on uniqueness and an artistic yet often unpolished aesthetic. They then just go marketing. Although spending lots of money for marketing, for kols, for community…However, once the marketing stops, the IP fades, leading to a very short life cycle for Web3 IPs.
Sakura IP Building
Sakura's story begins in a world dominated by the powerful syndicate ARIS, which exerts control over both the real world and the rapidly expanding metaverse. The Resistance’s hope for a turnaround hinges on a groundbreaking technological advancement: the ability to upload human consciousness. Sakura becomes the first successfully uploaded conscious being, and her spirit becomes a beacon, guiding the resistance in their fight against ARIS.
We aim to provide a complete storyline that runs through the operation, delivering a more satisfying IP experience to users through diverse forms of presentation.
Easter Eggs
Our artist drew inspiration from the iconic scene of 「The Death of Marat」when creating this poster. The powerful image of a revolutionary journalist being stabbed to death in his bathtub during the French Revolution profoundly moved us. Especially the note Marat held, writing: "It is enough that I am very unhappy to be entitled to your benevolence." We believe this revolutionary spirit is valuable in every era, and we hope it inspires people with hope and strength.
