L2s

If Base wants to become unbeatable, the one Layer 2 twist would be weaving identity and reputation directly into the chain itself. Most L2s compete on throughput and fees, but those are races to the bottom. If Base tied wallets to composable, privacy-preserving identity primitives—think attestations, reputation scores, or portable on-chain credentials—it could become the default social and commercial layer of Ethereum. That would give apps on Base a native way to fight Sybil attacks, reward loyal users, and build trust without reinventing the wheel each time. Such a move would differentiate Base not just as cheap blockspace, but as the chain where real communities and economies can form safely at scale. It’s overdue in Web3, where we’ve had speed and liquidity but still lack trust infrastructure.
