Many years have passed since that day in 1982 when, for the first time in a movie theater, I heard: “Did you hear that? They've shut down the main reactor. We'll be destroyed for sure. This is madness!” With those words, C-3PO opened Episode IV: A New Hope and set in motion a story that has influenced the lives of millions and become a defining feature—culturally and beyond—of our own civilization. This seemingly simple tale of light and darkness, of power and resistance, gave rise to generations of dreamers—people who continue to shape the world even today. An unreal moment with an unreal man—and everyone has their own definition of such things, but this was definitely mine. The only actor to appear in all nine films of the series and to voice his character in every single one. I can’t help but imagine what a life he must have led, the people he’s known, and the incredible experiences he’s had on that scale. A giant. 😊
