I started this year with so much fear and anxiety. We were living in the States and still in the process of getting my husband his green card. When Trump was reelected, I knew it was going to become even harder for us than it already was.
We made the very difficult decision to leave behind our life family, friends, and even our cats (who are safe with my mom). It wasn’t easy, but the fear of my husband being picked up by ICE was something I couldn’t risk.
Now that we’re here together, I know we made the right choice. He has his autonomy back, and our daughter gets to experience her heritage in a deep, meaningful way. I miss my family every day, but this year has taught me how to adapt and work with what is.
Looking ahead to the new year creating more content and continuing to share our story.
