it's wild how niantic casually dropped a public declaration
"hey the photos/scans we collect(ed) through our game pokemon go and its ar extensions are/have been used to produce a dataset of 30+ billion real world images"
"oh and also we are using all the data to power visual identification for delivery robots, enabling them to identify the exact location within relying on gps"
10+ years of "nostalgic gaming, with real world experience" has made users free work labour
this would be a huge deal and scatter outrage if users weren't enjoying what they did
top tier move by niantic for what it's worth and it should shape the idea of how data collection works over time to the normies
emotion is a major play in selling/distributing products and shaping the business
people will never run out of emotions
people will never run out of business
