I don’t even know how to start this.
I’m very shaken by the Iranian Revolution and by the disappearance of one of my closest friends. It’s been a while since he’s been offline (the whole country has).
I have his phone number, but I can’t text him, as there's rumors regime is checking phones, and I’m unsure it's safe if anyone else but him saw it.
This app has taught me a lot. You don’t have to see someone’s face to feel empathy. You don’t have to know everything about someone to be friends. The world became small. We remain powerless.
I don’t know if you’re alive, dear friend. Maybe I'll never know.
But if you ever come to read this, please know that I’ve been searching for your name and checking your activity. I keep checking WhatsApp and Twitter.
Please come back. Teach me Farsi. Come to Brazil. Share your culture with me. Above all, please be safe out there.
I know that even if I saw you, I would hardly recognize you, but here’s the thing: I appreciate having met you.
