As a side project I couldn't get out of my head, I wanted to help uncover hidden histories that trace the origins that built America. It's called gitblack and each day I will tell a story of a black builder whose work still influences what we use today.
What might have been had we been able to proliferate our ideas without threat of violence, prosecution, murder, poverty, etc? What might have been if our work was championed and encouraged?
What you learn about is the end result: so and so invented something. But how they got there, what the intentions were, and almost always how the work was co opted into a tool to suppress the very things the tool was initially created for...that is what many of us fail to piece together.
So this project is a way to bring visibility to those important stories and to get you to see that black is in everything.
Happy Black History month XD
