Idk who cares about this but I heard directly from people high up at Refco that this 100% happened basically exactly as speculated
Refco did a huge volume of trading and Red Bone (guy's name) just took some of the profitable trades and assigned them to Hillary Clinton's account to funnel money to Bill who was running for governor
Plain abject bribery. Pretty wild
almost overslept for the first time in 5 years as the whole house slept until 8:15 by done miracle
the idea that i would sleep **too much** has been a joke, a hilariously implausible fantasy for half a decade
me, before having kids: i will never lie to my kids
me, now: we’re out of candy. no we can’t go to the store they’re out too. no we can’t order online either all the candy factories stopped making candy until next week
if you ask my kid “do need a diaper change?” you get a “no” no matter what
but i found a loophole
follow up with “are you tricking me?” and get the honest answer
gotta take the Ws where you can
the tactic of repeating yourself over and over and over until the other person acknowledges you is honestly really effective and i’m surprised you don’t see it in say a business context
My son loves the song “Blister In The Sun” by the Violent Femmes
Not because it speaks to the intense and manic experience of adolescence
But because he’s 4 and he had a blister and so that really resonates with him
I noticed Prometheum still puts out content
They expectedly completely dropped their Gensler honeypot psyop and now praise “regulatory clarity” and “modernization” from current SEC lol
Apparently just pretending they whole thing never happened
And meanwhile suing people with <1k Twitter followers for calling them scammers. Pure scum

running my fund and talking with LPs, fund managers, etc i heard 1000 ways things blow up
one sticks in my mind for being extremely unfair
in the 2000s some execs at big trading firm in Chicago (RefCo) engage in fraud. one day the feds raid the offices and seize everything
they examine the evidence and one guy, an executive named Tone Grant, had written down something vague on a piece of paper. something like “phillip is aware. “ no date, no context. just a random scribble. unfortunately “phillip” is the CEO and perpetrator of fraud. the feds seized on this as the basis to charge this lawyer as a co-conspirator
Tone goes to trial AND LOSES. he is sentenced to 10 years. he gets cancer in prison and dies. unbelievably sad
from what i know, he wasn’t aware of the fraud. he had been on the outs since stepping down as president. he was a lawyer, not a finance guy
unfortunate takeaway is that you have to he careful about what you write down. everything can and will be used against you as they say
was at the park and a mom/caretaker wanted to tell her kid to "stop" soemthing but she said "[NAME], NO THANK YOU" multiple times in this weird, intentional sounding cadence
is this some kind of new-age parenting tactic or was this lady crazy?
it makes no sense to be saying "thank you" in this context and i am sure it was "NO THANK YOU" not "NO, THANK YOU."
this is really bothering me
