Went and saw Project Hail Mary last night. It's an incredible movie up until the last ten minutes, when the fire alarm went off and we had to exit the theater 😭
Going to have to watch it again to finally see the ending.
New type illustration using a color palette pulled from mycolors.xyz. I started with a sunset photo, extracted a 5-color palette, exported it as an ASE swatch file, and opened it in Adobe Illustrator. Try it for yourself!
I built this image color palette picker over the weekend, https://mycolors.xyz/
Upload any photo and instantly extract a 5-color palette. Drag pins to sample exact colors, then export to a variety of options. If you use Adobe or Affinity design software you can export as ASE and import the swatches into those programs.
It’s free to use—no ads, no cookies, and no account required.
Neon camera illustration using Affinity design software. The Affinity UI is pretty intuitive and all the vector key commands are similar to Adobe Illustrator. I still can’t believe how powerful this software is and it’s free (for now). One thing I wish it had was a timeline to do gif animations. I ended up having to create this gif animation in Photoshop.
It’s been over a year since I stopped using X. The hardest part is clicking links that go nowhere for me. The best part is… pretty much everything else.
Digging through an old drive today and found neon sign photos from my first trip to Hong Kong back in February 2005. The sheer amount of neon in the Kowloon area was impressive and gave a unique glow to the streets. Shot with an Olympus C3000 zoom digital camera with a whopping 3.3 megapixels. Looking back at these images makes me want to pick up one of these old cameras again.
