this might sound silly but the more I play around with code the more I start to understand the relentless optimism that devs tend to have
with software, pretty much anything can be fixed - you can have the buggiest app/site with the most godawful structure, but you can always just...fix it
it might be difficult and it might take weeks, but it *can* be fixed
extrapolating this to other live systems (machines, the economy) seems straightforward enough - with enough understanding, enough time, and enough resources, most things can be fixed
you can just fix things.
