Painted By Nature, captured by me.
In this age of AI images, people might this this unreal, but it’s completely real.
This is Hverir, a geothermal hot spring field in northern Iceland, which I photographed with a drone in 2022. The colors come from sulfur, iron oxides, boiling mud, and superheated steam rising directly from the Earth’s crust.
In a time when many images are synthetic, I find deep meaning in showing what our planet actually creates on its own. Geology doesn’t need fantasy as it already tells an extraordinary story.
And this image is also an NFT that was minted as editions on Sloika back in the day.
I got a pretty generic one. But at least it’s purple.
I just minted a custom Warplet with DNA generated from my Farcaster profile. Join The Warplet family!
I've been very busy recently, participating in a local Women In AI group learning lab, which is the best thing I've done in a decade. I'm learning how to build AI agents and the security of AI. At the end of 6 weeks (in 2 weeks), our small groups will share with the larger group what we've learned. I'm also studying UX Design and Digital Product Management. All in the hope of finally having an interesting and lucrative job before I get laid off. Photography is still my heart and soul, but it doesn't pay the bills. Wishing you all a Happy Foggy Friday. Looking forward to a beautiful fall weekend of outdoor adventures!
Gm! Iceland on my mind. Thinking of @eriks traveling in Iceland right now. Erik, I hope you are enjoying your trip and I'm wondering if you made it to this place, Landmannalaugar. It's getting late in September and it might have snowed there already. I know the buses stop running around mid-September to that place.
Happy Moon-day, Compez! I do have some blood moons shots from several eclipses, but I'll share something different with the super moon from 2023 with passing clouds obscuring part of it for a very spooky feel.
I’ve been on a road trip this past week. This was the view from my campsite last night. It’s a part of the Cureconti recreation area in Colorado. Peaceful wilderness. I have other photos which I will share later.
Reynisdrangar Beach near Vik in southern Iceland is quite a well-known spot for tourists. But be careful going on the beach there as it can be super dangerous (people have died). Don't get to close to the sea and never turn your back on it.
Golden Hour in the Utah desert of the Canyonlands. I arrived in the dark to wait for the sunset (with a bunch of other photographers, as this is a famous site to shoot sunrise) and was not disappointed.

It seems when I QC these that the first time it doesn't post the photo. This happened the last time I QC'd a cast like this too. Hope it works this time.
A drone shot above a geothermal pool in the trails near Krafla geothermal are in northern Iceland. @eriks - this is also near Hverir and Myvatn. I continued on the hike past this through the still steaming lava fields. Last eruption was in the 1970s. Very cool area!
Love this theme. My ghost photos capture it well, I believe. This is a long exposure in one frame. People are transient, moving through places over time, coming and going and eventually gone, but a memory of them survives in that place. This was a place I used to "haunt" in 2013. Browning Beach, Seschelt, BC, Canada. It is a self portrait.

Hverfjall tuff ring volcano, near Lake Myvatn, Iceland. This is a great hike, @eriks if you are in the area. It's not far from Hverir and Krafla geothermal areas. Both are worth visiting!
