I like Farcon Rome as the birthplace of Farcaster the nation state of the future. A nation of optimistic builders. The ingredients are here the ambition just needs to be scaled up at least an order of magnitude.
Scott Lynch, Patrick Rothfuss and George R.R. Martin. As soon as local models get good enough or the large models stop being handicapped, I will finish your stories and enjoy the endings I know I wont get from you.
I believe it was Burry that said better than any short during the GFC was buying on the way down. Price action should test your beliefs not dictate them.
A Distant Mirror
Journal Entry #1
The nobility the clergy and the common man. The nobility protects, the clergy prays, and the common man works to feed both. In principle. Ultimately the point was the nobility were the knights and their power derived from their ability to kill or prevent killing. Violence. The horse being a key symbol because of its ability to increase the efficacy of the violence. This was the core kernel of truth around which the medieval system appears to be designed around. Yet it was the clergy who were ranked either equal or higher. Curious to think of what it means for today and our current structure. Also interesting how porous the barrier was between the 3 classes and movement between them not unlike what we have today. A distant mirror indeed. Very enjoyable read so far.
