I think “World Computer” is now an overscoped phrase since AI has radically expanded the idea of computing. I think a better term for the Ethereum vision is now World Fabric.
The term fabric is often used at all levels of compute from SoC to data centers to designate specifically the connective tissues, control planes, and systems of constraint and interconnection in compute. Andrej Karpathy just used the term in describing his experiments setting up his personal claws and it feels natural. MCP, A2A, 8004, 402 all feel fabricy to me. So do backplane tech elements like infiniband/ethernet etc. But core AI models feel non-fabricy, like the IP elements within SoCs. And they are now the compute cores. Turing completeness is a red herring. Almost anything is TC unless specifically designed not to be. The real distinction is core vs fabric. It’s the new kernel vs shell.
And this architectural topology is starting to be fractally mirrored in society at large. There are core people/institutions and fabric people/institutions.
