I know this manga is going to be great because it is breaking me in many pieces, many times, and many places, physically, mentally and spiritually. I hope to deliver the first chapters at the end of this year.
Very often I question my progress on this because there's not much published yet, but I can't ignore the gestation period that's taking place. I've been using immense amounts of energy and direction to make this my Magnum Opus, and I'm quite demanding of my own work. I hope the quality match my own expectations.
The biggest challenge for the magic system is that it needs to be embedded into the world building logic. otherwise the magic system will feel fake and just a cosmetic layer of the story. Having a strong world building helps a lot with this and I am glad I finalized (80%) that stage for now.
Something I started to notice around a couple of years ago, is the lack of volatility of new Noun traits. I remember perfectly the core idea of having weird traits that could look cool in the collection. Now, traits have to go through a lame political process watering down even the initial concept.
One of the reasons I had to pause the manga development for ~8 months, was because I had a very loose creation myth and magic system. That was enough for the first volume of the manga but not for a manga series 🤷♂️
So I had to go back and create this entire cyclocosmic universe with interconnected myths from different Noun species. It's solid enough to keep working on the manga without too many plot holes.
I must say that Nouns changed my life. Not just by funding the ideas I'm still developing (manga), but because they appeared in a weird moment in my life, a moment of mental transition and expansion. It would be sad if the ethos of nouns is forgotten.
Alright, this is the species chart!
I would LOVE to share their names and such, but that would be a major spoiler for the manga. Nouns are located in the tiny red oval. I thought a sub-species chart would be nice, but I think this is enough for the upcoming volumes lol.
Creating an Onchain Myth is complex, I need to manage the layers of complexity/abstraction without loosing the readers attention, while maintaining the world building logic and magical systems interacting with the characters as they go... Everything wrapped in symbols and metaphors using furries. I fucking love it 🔥
I feel the pressure to post more to show I'm actively working on my manga, but I'm not here to convince doubters. I was funded to create a work of art and a legacy beyond Nouns. That’s a fact, whether it's understood or not.
I think nouns will be a perfect fit for the future since current manga and comics are too "Japanese" or too "American" for the people between these 2.
I'm glad I came from the third world to show an alternative to both using furries basically.
